After starting Cadrage for the first time, you will be asked for permission to access the camera (mandatory) and your location (optional, to geotag your images).

Camera Setup

The first step is to recreate your camera setup in Cadrage. Tap on the camera format in the bottom bar to bring up the Setup View.

  • Camera: Select your camera, including shooting mode and target aspect ratio.

  • Framelines: If you would like to see a secondary aspect ratio superimposed on the image.

  • Lenses: Select your lens series and focal lengths.

  • Lens Adapter: Optional if you are using adapters like Speedboosters or tele extenders.

Once you have selected everything, return to the Main View or press ADD SETUP TO FAVORITES to save this as a preset. Cadrage is now ready to show you the framing for your setup.

Using the Viewfinder

When you are using prime lenses, there are two display modes:

  • Overview Mode displays frame guides for all focal lengths at once

  • Full Screen Mode displays only one focal length at a time

To switch between these two modes, double-tap anywhere into the Live Image. To change lenses, use the arrow buttons to cycle through your lens kit.

When you are using a zoom lens, there is no overview mode. Tap and hold the arrow buttons or use the pinch gesture to zoom.

Saving Photos and Videos

To save your current framing, tap the Shutter Button in the lower right of the Main View or use the Volume Buttons on your phone. To review your image, tap the Gallery Button on the left to enter the gallery. If you prefer that your images be saved directly to your iOS Photos app, you can configure this in the Settings.

To capture video, tap the Photo Icon next to the Shutter Button. You will now be asked for permission to access your microphone (optional, to capture video with sound). The Photo Button will turn into a Video Recording Button that will let you start and stop recording. Again, you can use the volume buttons of your phone to do this.
